Phormium cookianum

Dwarf mountain flax

Wharariki

Neat and tidy little flax (1mx1m) Yellow flower spikes in spring, twisted black seed pods in summer.

Looks good in containers, along driveways and paths, or mass plantings.

Stratification unnecessary. Scatter seeds evenly over bed of potting mix and cover lightly. Place glass over tray for greenhouse effect. Keep warm, moist, and out of direct sunlight until seedlings emerge around 4 weeks

Prick out any size. 450ml planter bags sufficient for first year. Protect from slugs and snails. Expect 20-30cm growth. Avoid heavily sheltered areas which may encourage scale insect or mealy bug. Spraying oil mixed in detergent is adequate to control pests

When planting out, choose position in full sun for more intense colour and compact growth. Tolerant of wind, frost, drought, and coastal locations. Avoid swampy areas where roots would be constantly submerged

100 seeds per packet

Seeds may be refrigerated up to12 months until ready to be sown

30 page illustrated Propagation guide included via email with this purchase

Please ensure correct courier delivery is selected to avoid delay & disappointment
